MDC Trails

Looking for a place to walk, hike, bike or ride your horse? Conservation Area trails provide recreational and educational opportunities as well as access to your conservation lands.

Some trails are disabled accessible, and foot traffic is permitted on all designated trails. Bicycling and horseback riding are allowed on designated trails in some areas.

Pets are allowed on many Conservation Areas but they must be on a leash or confined at all times. Pets are not permitted at Nature Centers, Rockwoods Reservation, or on the trail at Engelmann Woods Natural Area.

Adopt-A-Trail Program Discontinued

Since 2008, the Department has been faced with significant reductions in operating funds, and we anticipate upcoming revenues will be too low to sustain some conservation programs.

As a result, the Department will no longer be able to support the Adopt-A-Trail Program. We extend a heart-felt thanks to all the Adopt-A-Trail volunteers for their time and effort, and we hope you will continue to support your local conservation area.

Your local Regional Conservation Office can help you find volunteer opportunities that include trails work and a variety of other volunteer activities. Thanks again for your dedication to conservation!
